Eating Habits During Treatment DURING TREATMENT 1. HARD FOODS which can do damage by cArETwiOK!EAT YOU MUST AVOID EATING: bending wires and pulling loose cement under D? YES?NO! the bands or breaking the brackets and tubes which are stuck on the teeth. (Foods such as nuts, caramel and popcorn.) AVOi 2. STICKY FOODS which can damage appliances by bending wires and pulling cement loose. (Foods such as toffee or bubble gum.) 3. FOODS HIGH IN SUGAR CONTENT because sugar will feed the bacteria that cause plaque and as braces make it harder to keep your teeth clean the plaque will be harder to remove and could really damage you teeth.if you do eat anything sugary you must brush your teeth immediately.if it is not possible to brush then always rinse your mouth with clear water or mouthwash after eating very sweet foods. (Foods such as sweets, chocolate and fizzy drinks.) WARNING: DURING TREATMENT DO NOT EAT OR DRINK: 6 Popcorn 6 Fizzy drinks 6 Nuts 6 hard baguettes and pizza crusts 6 Lemons (pure lemon juice can hurt your tooth enamel) 6 crisps 6 Sweets and chocolate 6 caramel and toffee 6 Bubble gum and chewing gum 6 Biscuits and cakes 6 corn on the cob WARNING: DURING TREATMENT YOU MUST DEFINITELY AVOID: 6 ice crunching 6 Nail biting 6 chewing pens WITH CAUTION DURING TREATMENT YOU MAY BE ABLE TO EAT: 4 carrot sticks if you slice into carrot curls that are thin or cook them 4 Apples and Pears cut into wedges, don’t try to bite into the whole fruit OK DURING TREATMENT WE RECOMMEND SOFT FOODS LIKE: 4 rice 4 Pasta 4 Soup 4 Banana’s
